What makes for a great wedding video?
March 5th, 2010
I’ve been asked that numerous times by brides and grooms and even though opinions differ on that matter to some extend, there are some universal truths:
The surroundings in Banff, Lake Louise and Canmore provide an awesome backdrop for any video or photography. Winter or summer, it is technically fairly easy to make shots look good.
A ‘cinematic’ look in your wedding video is what most people are striving for now – a shallow depth of field for those softer backgrounds and a crisp clear focus on the bride and groom.
Beautiful images, right?
It does take a skilled videographer to achieve that look and two cameras should be the norm in order to guarantee a smooth product.
I dare to say that this is only half of what makes a great video of your wedding day.
The other half is the interaction between your wedding videographer, bride and groom and your guests.
A purely documentary and observing video can make for a fine memento, but it’s those engaging moments of interaction with the camera, or more so with the camera operator that will turn it into a truly great video.
Choosing a wedding video professional is therefore a very personal matter – make sure that it’ll be fun to have him/her around AND that you’ll get a quality product in the end.
